Poison Centre Notification

If you are placing mixtures that are hazardous for their health or phyiscal effect or biocides on the market in Europe then we can support you to notify your products with poison centres and meet your regulatory obligations in all Member States

Notification of your products

We offer a full poison centre notification service for companies who have an obligation to register their hazardous mixtures and biocides.

Our poison centre notification package is driven by years of experience; researching each Member State’s implementation of poison centre legislation, and shaping poison centre policy through work with the European Commission.

This has included thousands of hours of review, extensive discussions with each centre and the compilation of comprehensive processes for registration in each country. Choosing NCEC to undertake a full outsourced or support service means you’ll benefit from our experience and reduce your registration time and cost.

Key benefits of using NCEC for product notification

  • We help to reduce the time, cost and resources required to understand the complex notification requirements of poison centres in all EU Member States - saving you money.
  • NCEC will determine where group submissions can be made to reduce the number of notifications that must be completed and the appointed receiving body’s costs - reducing registration costs.
  • We support you to optimise your resources by determining what your actual obligations are and what products needs to be registered.
  • For notifications to some Member States there is an additional requirement of a security certificate for online submissions, at an added cost. These certificates must be delivered in person, often in country, and are tied to a single person in the organisation. NCEC has these certificates and they can used by your company at no additional cost.
  • All communications with NCEC can be conducted in English, whereas many receiving bodies insist on communication in the local language.
  • Our services can be tailored to your specific need, we help clients prioritise by volume of product and hazard to focus your available budget. We can also provide consultancy support to help you undertake your own registrations.

Find out about your market's poison centre requirements

NCEC’s Poison Centre Compliance Report provides a comprehensive review of the diverse poison centre notification requirements in all available EU Member States. The guide can help you to overcome Europe’s complex hazardous product submission processes and avoid the financial and legal costs of non-compliance.

Background

If you are placing biocides or mixtures that are hazardous for their health or physical effect, on the market in Europe then they must be notified to poison centres within each Member State.

For the majority of EU Member States the poison centre number must then be included in section 1.4 of your SDS, accompanied by any other emergency numbers your company may use for emergencies that do not require toxicological advice.

How you submit this information, what data is required and who you submit this to, varies between Member States. Some notifications are simply a submission of a high quality SDS by email, others require your full composition submitted via dedicated web portal and the purchase of a security certificate.

We can offer a full notification service. We will identify the specific data requirements for each Member State, tailored to your product range, and then liaise with the appropriate appointing receiving bodies to submit this information. You will then receive confirmation that this has been submitted and allocation of the poison centre numbers to include on your safety data sheets where applicable.
