Slovenia and Poland are now accepting Annex VIII portal submissions
In August, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published version 3.6 of the ‘Overview of Member States decisions in relation to implementation of Annex VIII to CLP Regulation (Poison Centre Notification)’. The document provides a summary of how Member States are implementing Annex VIII through the ECHA’s harmonised submission portal, including whether they are ready to receive notifications from the portal. The biggest change is Slovenia and Poland joining the growing list of countries accepting notifications through the portal.
Neither country is currently charging a fee for submissions. However, Slovenia and Poland are only accepting notifications in their national language, making them the first Member States not accepting English language notifications. This will require industry to start using the multilingual text entry fields in the portal.

Poison centre notification deadlines:
- 1 January 2021 – Consumer and professional use mixtures.
- 1 January 2024 – Industrial use mixtures.
- 1 January 2025 – For those who completed Member State notifications under the current national systems.
The January 2025 deadline is only valid for Member State product notifications that are completed on the existing national systems before 31 December 2020.
How to remain compliant?
With the January 2021 deadline now just 3 months away, businesses should be giving serious consideration to how they intend to stay compliant going into 2021.
